Phase I Drilling Intersects VMS Mineralization at North Zone

| | Vancouver, British Columbia, September 2, 2003: Roca Mines Inc. ("Roca") announces the completion of Phase I diamond drilling at the North Zone on its Foremore Project located 45 km north of Barrick Gold's Eskay Creek Mine in northwestern British Columbia.
The North Zone includes the site of a new VMS discovery named the "BRT Showing". Assay results from this massive sulphide outcrop were reported in press releases ROK.V #8-03 and #9-03.
The Phase I drill program at the North Zone comprised seven holes totaling approximately 750m of drilling from three setup locations. All seven drill holes intercepted a sulphide mineralized horizon -- the last hole (FM03-11) was completed on September 1, 2003 and cut approximately 15m of banded semi-massive to massive sulphides between 86m and 101m depth. The mineralization occurs in felsic rocks which lie at the contact between graphitic metasediments and overlying mafic volcanics. The felsic unit is observed to be up to 41m thick in the drilling to date. Samples from cut core are being prepared under the supervision of Mr. W.A. (Sandy) Sears, P.Geo. a qualified person, as defined by NI 43-101, and will be sent to ACME Analytical Laboratories in Vancouver for assay. The BRT showing lies at the northeast end of the North Boulder Field (NBF), a 2 km long discontinuous zone of VMS boulders located at the base of the North Zone slope.
